SpectrumPhone is built on world-leading Broadworks technology and is hosted in two separate UK data centers. Only one of these needs to be up and running for the platform to function. Within each data center, the platform is high availability and resilient such that any single component can fail and that site will continue to serve the connected users. The configuration is kept in-sync between sites using a back-end database that replicates changes in one site to the other sites in the network.
Each data center has highly resilient N+1 power and cooling. Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) are used to protect the platform from minor power fluctuations or outages with diesel generators able to supply the total power in the event of a major power failure in the area.
relies on the Internet to communicate with the individual handsets and customer sites. Each data center has multiple connections to the Internet and has peering arrangements in place with every major Internet Service Provider as well as Government and academic networks via JaNET.
Of course, JolaPhone is a platform that enables both internal calls and external calls to and from locations that are using the PSTN network for their telephone service. Each site has multiple routes to the PSTN from multiple different carriers.
